The Lord of Success
The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. In fact, Ganesha is one of the five prime Hindu deities (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Durga being the other four) whose idolatry is glorified as the panchayatana puja.

Hungry Buddha

A korean traveller came in for a hungry buddha. It is a rare thing to see poeple want that aspect of the Buddha's journey.
The waves around the buddha seem to intensify his deep meditation state, in which all is still, as he sits in the midst of life.

"Siddhartha and a group of five companions led by Kondanna then set out to take their austerities even further. They tried to find enlightenment through near total deprivation of worldly goods, including food, practicing self-mortification. After nearly starving himself to death by restricting his food intake to around a leaf or nut per day, he collapsed in a river while bathing and almost drowned. Siddhartha began to reconsider his path. As he laid there, a boat passed him and he overheard the conversation that the two musicians aboard it were saying: "If you tighten the string too tight it will snap, but if it is too loose it will not play." From this, he realised that he would have to take a "middle-way" to reach enlightenment and not by using extremes."

After doing work for 2 months in a nearby village, they got married Nepale style.
The tattoo is their marriage date with the Temple they got married in.

We had a nice afternoon at the shop when Ananda and Juliette came in to ink a special memory.
Juliette got a classic Om on her wrist.

And Ananda got a symbol of his own design.

In Ananda's words, his tattoo represents:

"The joint symbols of infinity / logos / emptiness / light / wisdom and space / chaos / form / darkness / ignorance, linked to each other by a bubble of cosmic mystery, are a symbolic caption of the fundamentals of our existence."

What a beautiful sight.
DJ Xzena, a local DJ, came into the shop for a full dragon back.

The tattoo kept everyone in the shop late at night, but it was way worth the wait. The dragon fit perfectly on her back.
